Technische Universität Ilmenau TU Ilmenau

The Department of Lighting Engineering, established 1957, is part of the faculty of mechanical engineering at the Ilmenau University of Technology. Its main focus is targeted on man-lighting-interactions and on the development of measurement methods which emulate those interactions. Education and research topics cover physiological optics, psychophysics, photometry and colorimetry as well as light source, luminaire and illumination technology.

The laboratories are equipped with photometric and spectroradiometric measurement systems. The Department of Lighting Engineering has lots of experience in the field of subjective assessment of light applications. At present there are investigations in colour rendering.
