CSIC is a Designated Laboratory in Spain for optical radiation measurements, being responsible for the realisation and dissemination of Spanish optical radiation standards.

CSIC has recently developed a goniophotometer for measuring angular, spatial and spectral distributions of light emitters, which is necessary to measure geometrical aspects of Solid State Light. In addition, CSIC’s experience in developing photometric scales based in detectors will be valuable with regard to SSL traceability.
